Okay, it's been a while since I sat down and actually wrote down something that wasn't depressing in this thing.
The summer is here, it is here with a vengeance. It was 92 degrees outside here in Kentucky. Anyone who's lived in Kentucky knows what that means, humidity. Not just normal humidity, more like OH-MY-GOODNESS-THIS-MUST-BE-WHAT-HELL-FEELS-LIKE humidity. The kind of humidity that punches you in the face when you walk outside and makes you think strongly about going back inside where the air condition is. It is the only thing I dislike about summer. I don't like the feeling of taking a shower and then going outside and feeling like I haven't had one by only standing for 10 minutes. It's ridiculous. But I'm just ranting here.
Besides humidity, I do love everything else that comes with summer. One of the thing I love the most about summer is summer movies. My Sweet Lord Aragorn, they rock. They are always full of action, excitement and even if they aren't very good when it comes to movie standards, they are still enjoyable. I look forward to summer for the movies. This year has been probably the best so far and there is still one more I need to see. Last summer I had POTC: AWE,
Transformers, and
Spider-Man 3. The latter was not worth my money. I didn't enjoy it in the least it failed to live up to the standard its predecessor had set. Seems to be a trend with third movie in superhero trilogies. (Here's looking at you
X-Men 3).Pirates, however was fun and awesome and didn't really take itself seriously. It knew if you were watching it, you were a fan and you would enjoy no matter how miserably the plot fell on its face. The same was true with
Transformers. It was made to be a summer film. It wasn't anything spectacular in terms of plot, but the what kept you watching was the action and the people involved.
This summer has been a blast so far, in terms of movies. Originally on my list of movies to see were just three Pixar's new film,
WALL-E, the sequel to an excellent Batman film,
Batman Begins,
The Dark Knight and The fourth
Indiana Jones . However, I managed to squeeze two unexpected films into that list. The first of which was
Ironman. That was such an excellent movie, I saw it twice on opening weekend and once more after. Robert Downey, Jr. was such an excellent cast for the part of Tony Stark, a half-drunk, genius, billionaire playboy. The action was great and the plot was actually the entire center of the film, rather than just an excuse to string action sequences together. I recommend it to anyone, even if you are not a superhero fan. It is an extremely enjoyable movie.
The second addition to my list was
The Incredible Hulk. Saw the preview for this movie ahead of
Ironman and thought it was worth a look. I mean it had Edward Norton and Liv Tyler. C'mon? Is any other reason? Edward Norton doesn't do crappy movies. So I went to see it and again enjoyed myself. It wasn't as good as
Ironman. However, the movie wasn't horrible either. The action scenes in the movie are a band-aid for the subpar plot. But Edward Norton does such a good job, you wouldn't care. But you might want to stay away if you aren't a superhero fan or a fan of Hulk in general.
Third movie I have seen this summer was the fourth Indiana Jones movies. I love Indy and everything that comes with him. Steven Speilberg, Harrison Ford, John Williams, History and Archeology. The Indiana Jones movies are so fun and campy that it is hard not to like them. I went to see this simply because I loved the three previous ones. I wasn't disappointed, but I was impressed either. I was hoping for more old school filming and less CGI, however, that wasn't the case. Sure the movie was film on real location and on real sets, but you know George Lucas. That man has to run everything through a computer. So the part of the film had that wonderful CGI gleam and that made the in the immersion into the film a little difficult. Out of the all the plots of the Indy films, I like this one the least. It got a little less historical and little more sci-fi, but that's just me. I still enjoyed it. Besides Indy movies are action sequences interrupted by plot to begin with, anyway.
The other two movies on my list have yet to come out. But I am looking forward to being impressed. I let you know what I think when I see them.
This was a rather unexpectedly large post. I post Part Two of my Summer sometime later. With more reasons why I love summer.

I really loved Indiana Jones, but I completely agree with you about it being better with less CGI and more old school filming techniques. I hadn't seen the first ones yet, so I really didn't know what to expect. The ending really surprised me, and a bit scary too (I'll admit.) My dad said he wanted to watch all of the movies together, so we probably will soon, which is pretty exciting.
I'm not much of a fan of the superhero type movies, so I haven't seen much else you've posted about. I tried to like that genre, but I just didn't catch on much.
It's good to know your summer is going well. It's really been cooler lately, so that helps a bit with the humidity. I finally got a membership to the YMCA, after years of sneaking in and have spent my summer a lot there getting into trouble doing illegal moves off the diving board. quite fun. I think it is maybe supposed to rain Friday and Saturday, but I am okay for playing Quidditch anytime, just let me know.
Well, here is an equally long comment for a long post. :)
@a_girl_with_a_pen - Yeah, if it rains, I'll see if we can do later next week. I leave for California next Friday the 27th, so if we can't next week it'll have to be in July.
