So, in little more than a week the world is going to return to normal. The election will be over and we can finally talk about something else for a change. I am quite tired of talking about it. I've made my mind up a long time ago about who I thought was the best one for this country and I'll stand by that decision.
It is also my humble honor to inform everyone who reads this blog that I am going to be receiving what can only be called the state of Kentucky's equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize. Governor Steve Beshear is going to commission me and a few of my education class colleagues with the title of Kentucky Colonel. It is the highest honor of the Commonwealth. I am overwhelmed, and quite frankly I can't believe it because the reason I am being awarded this I don't think deserves it. I am being honored with this title because me and a few of my colleagues in the education program were improving a needy school this past weekend. What I did specifically was paint a hallway of the elementary school with Children's Books' character (i.e. Dr. Seuss, Curious George). Other things that my friends were doing included landscaping and building a wheelchair ramp.
We had got a grant to pay for the supplies to do this job and got a bunch of volunteers to sacrifice their Saturday. We had informed the Governor we were doing this and invited him to join us. Governor Beshear couldn't be there, but he sent some of his staff down and they informed us that he was so impressed with what we were doing that everyone involved was getting a commission as a Colonel. I was floored.
I know join the ranks of such individuals as Pope John Paul II, Winston Churchill, Muhammad Ali, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, Lyndon B. Johnson and Elvis Presley. I am really just honored. I'll post pictures of the event when I get a chance.
